The only thing that's faster/better are the handful of mac native games (either intel or arm). I use shadow.tech for the latter, which does vastly better than virtualized windows ever did (even with an external GPU on an intel Mac), and runs circles around my M1 using Fusion, parallels, or crossover. Honestly, if you want to play anything that has any sort of real graphics load, I'd suggest using either a real PC or a cloud gaming service. Crossover is another option for some games, which does have better performance than either Fusion or Parallels, but much less compatibility (and it's pretty darn fiddly to get working). At least I'll be able to stop licensing both :-). DMG can be used to install Fusion on both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs. After restarting the virtual machine, you can create a Windows 11 account without needing an internet connection. Even then, I expect performance to be similar to Parallels. For example, you can have Fusion 13 named 'VMware Fusion' and Fusion 12 named 'VMware Fusion 12' within the /Applications folder. If the Windows Package Manager is installed, use the following command to. Enter the command oobebypassnro and press Enter. When you see the VMware Fusion installer window, double click the corresponding icon to install VMware Fusion. The internal windows emulation layer, coupled with the translation from DirectX to apple silicon GPU is a lot of overhead.įusion today doesn't have that capability in place, but I expect them to when the new tech preview comes out (which should be soon given that Sonoma was released to developers today). Locate the VMware Fusion installation file in Finder, and double click this file to open the installer (in my case VMwareFusion12-1-0.dmg ). Parallels does OK right now for Intel games on Windows 11 ARM, but it's not great. Before that you had to use either CrystalFetch or the w11armesd2iso command line utility to download the release channel version of Windows 11 ARM from Microsoft. The Arm version of Windows 11 has limitations that can impact your ability to use various types of hardware, games, and apps, including those that rely on DirectX 12 or OpenG元.3 or greater. Windows 11 ARM does not have the graphics support that its counterparts on the Intel side have. Maybe not even then unless VMware and Microsoft pull a rabbit out of their hats. My guess is that you'll need to wait until we get full tools. The Windows 11 ARM ISO that is created by the new download tool injects video and network drivers in the ISO so that manual installation of the drivers are no longer necessary early in the setup process like they were for Fusion 12.0.x. There's no 3d acceleration yet, though I expect a new tech preview shortly now that WWDC is underway, and that should have full tools (or at least I hope it does). With Fusion 13.5, they install the exact same way that VMware Tools do for Intel Windows versions. Will also guide you to install the temporary video drivers.
